Lee Grieve / Writing

A life.
In my own words.

I write music, develop games and want to tell my story.

The Truth Cult

Growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness, marrying young, leaving at twenty-two, and working out what I believed for myself. A memoir about family, faith and finding my own way.

There were no birthdays or Christmas, but there were gaming consoles, cassette tapes and a treehouse that was really just a board in an apple tree. My childhood had strict rules. It also had happiness.

I’m writing about the world I grew up in, the choices I made while I believed in it, and what happened after I left. Leaving the religion and no longer believing it were two different things. The story carries on into family life, music, games and learning to make my own decisions.

I want to tell it honestly, with humour, room for contradictions, and without making myself the hero of every story.
